Seismic retrofitting
Mythos Consorzio Stabile s.c.a.r.l.
In mid-December 2023, seismic adaptation work began at the CTO hospital in Turin, with completion scheduled for 2026. This intervention, financed with 30 million euros by the PNRR, aims to make all the health facilities of the facility safe in accordance with the Technical Construction Standards (NTC) 2018. The project stands out for the complexity of the constraints: ensuring the continuity of hospital activities, maintaining the functionality of the helipad and respecting the landscape requirements of the area. To minimize the impact on health services, the solution of external exoskeletons in metal carpentry, designed to resist earthquakes, was adopted. These structural elements, visible and harmonized with the environment through the use of compatible colors, guarantee the safety of the building without altering its aesthetics. A further intervention concerns the construction of three rigid towers, anchored to the fronts of the building, which will be covered with materials similar to the existing ones, such as brick and sheet metal, to better integrate into the architectural context. The entire design process was conducted in close collaboration with the Company Management and other bodies involved, ensuring a shared approach that respects urban and functional constraints. These measures allow the hospital to remain operational during the works, while ensuring an adequate level of seismic safety.
