Tram depot load-bearing structures

Borgo Panigale is one of the areas that will benefit most from the redevelopment project promoted by the new tramway infrastructure. A significant example is the area that hosts the “Deposito” construction site. The tramway network headquarters will be built in the western part of Via Persicetana, a complex of 14 buildings intended to accommodate offices, vehicle depots, technical-maintenance services and a multipurpose space available to the community. A section of the area will be used as an interchange car park, with 388 parking spaces, and will allow direct access to the terminus via a pedestrian underpass. On the eastern side of Via Persicetana, the terminus and the abutment area for extra-urban buses will be built, which will integrate with the tramway. The terminus will be equipped with a waiting room for passengers and a cycle station; in addition, approximately 4 hectares of land will be transformed into a new public park, which will overlook the Ina Village. Part of the tracks will be grassed over, while the connection to the depot will be via a tram underpass. During the works, the construction site will not have a significant impact on traffic, as it is located in a less exposed area. On the other hand, the works that will affect the current traffic light intersection between via Marco Emilio Lepido, via Persicetana and via De Gasperi will have an impact on traffic. The intersection will be transformed into a new two-level junction: a road underpass will connect via M.E. Lepido to via De Gasperi, while on the surface a roundabout will replace the current traffic light, ensuring safe passage for pedestrians and cyclists. The aim of this transformation is to improve the safety and fluidity of traffic.
