PMR

Rimini’s Coastal Rapid Transport (TRC) project, which will connect Rimini’s train station with Riccione’s in just 20 minutes, represents a significant transformation of the local public transport system. The eleven TRC stops, inspired by the colours of the Parco del Mare, such as the green of the parks, the blue of the sea and the sandy colour of the beaches, are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional. These colours were chosen to give each stop an identity linked to the places, contributing to urban regeneration and improving the attractiveness of previously marginal areas. The TRC stops are designed to be welcoming access points to the city, with attention to the quality of the street furniture and the functionality of the spaces. The benches and other furnishing elements not only meet practical needs but also enrich the aesthetic experience of users, creating a pleasant environment for residents and tourists. The importance of wayfinding has been recognised, with solutions that include maps, clear signage and dedicated applications to facilitate passenger orientation. Particular attention has been paid to Rimini station, where work is underway to improve the connection between the TRC, the train station, bus stops, car parks and the new bicycle station.
The TRC, with a frequency of vehicles passing every 7-10 minutes, will use fully electric trolleybuses, equipped with air conditioning and accessible for people with reduced mobility. The vehicles will be equipped to transport bicycles and will have video surveillance systems to ensure safety. The names of the stops, chosen in reference to the main places of interest, make it easier for tourists to identify the destinations. This project, which will be operational in 2019, aims to make public transport more accessible, frequent, environmentally friendly and safe, revolutionising intermodal mobility in the area.
